Born in Beirut in 1979, Tarek graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts , the Lebanese University , acquiring a BA in acting in 2002. In 2005, he obtained a Masters Degree in Theatre and Performing Arts from University of Nanterre , Paris X.
Tarek has acted in many plays: “Life is beautiful” directed by Michelle Jabr (1999), “ Marche ” directed by Issam bou Khaled (2005) and “Bint Jbeil” directed by Saseen Kawzally and Ben Harrison (2008)… among others.
In addition to his acting career, Tarek is interested in writing. He has written an adaptation of Gogol’s “Revizor” in 2002, and co-written the short movie “ Gibraltar ” in 2004. In 2008, his short story “Bermuda Triangle” received the Anna Lindh Foundation prize. The story is currently being illustrated and will be published by Dar Onboz , Lebanon .
“Hello” is Tarek’s first play, written under the supervision of the Royal Court Theatre, London, and it shall be produced in 2009 in collaboration with Maya Zbib.
