Introduction:
Walid enters a coffee shop and starts making trouble with the customers (maybe out of boredom). The events evolve illogically pushing Walid to kill one of the customers. Walid sets free all those in the coffee shop except for Michelle, the waitress, whom he takes for a hostage, after having informed the police about his crime and asked them to come and face him.
“Hello” is a play that seems to capture the way in which the awful side effects of war and conflict, love and forgetfulness, play themselves out in the lives of ordinary people. Who’s the real hostage? Walid, Michelle, or the police officers?
The play was originally written in Lebanese dialect.
